AT THE FERRY PIER
Bến Tre, Vietnam, 2013 - Leica M7, Summilux 35, Kodak Tri-X *Damn! I missed the ferry by a mere two minutes! I noticed this guy who was smoking and reading his smartphone. When I shot him, he looked at me very suspiciously and as if nothing were wrong, I then shot the ferry which was slowly sailing away on the Mekong river from the pier in Bến Tre to Trà Vinh for a 4-hour ride. During the nationwide Têt Offensive in 1968, the small town of Bến Tre was destroyed and about a thousand civilians caught in the savage fighting between Americans and the Việt Cộng were killed. Did fighting and self-sacrifice count for anything in the end?
