BLACK PIGLET
*Bảo Thắng, North Vietnam, 2000 - Leica M4, Summilux 35, Kodak Tri-X * As nationwide poverty figures have significantly reduced since the 2000s, and living standards improved, such progress has not been shared by the ethnic groups, who make up around 15 percent of the country’s population (98 million) but who could still constitute about 70 percent of the extreme poor (9 million). Furthermore, about three-quarters of the country’s poorest live in remote and rural areas, with their geographic location acting as a further barrier to accessing quality education and health services.
