ENCLOSED VALLEY

Sa Pa, Vietnam, 2000 - Leica M6J, Summicron 50, Kodak Tri-X *I met these young black Hmong girls in the beautiful mountains of Sa Pa in 2000. A heavy storm was coming and I told my jeep's driver to halt for shooting this interesting scenery. Here in one of the most known touristic sites, unlike the rich tour operators of Hanoi and Saigon, the local tribes have hardly benefited from the travel boom during the two last decades. Ethnic minorities too often appear unfairly as social outcast people. How could they get out of a life full of poverty, injustice, struggles and compromises?
